Five Animal Sports/Qigong for Health
Do you ever enjoy watching videos of wild animals portrayed in their natural element and admire how they stay so healthy under harsh natural conditions? Would you like to learn some gently stimulating exercises that help you dissolve stress and tension and regulate your natural body functions towards a normal state? 5 Animal Sports is a Classic of Traditional Chinese Qigong that will help you to do just that. The movements, which embody the essence of the Tiger, Deer, Bear, Ape and Bird are linked to the Liver, Kidneys, Spleen, Heart and Lungs and are designed to help soothe and restore your system, without fancy equipment or grueling workouts. 5 Animals Sports is similar to Taiji, but more repetive and employs graceful movements that allow you to tune into specific inner dynamics of your body. Each of the Five Animals is associated with a pair of organs and the Qi Meridians that connect to those organs. Five Animal Sports is movement based medicine, which supports improved circulation of the energy system. See the table below for some of the correspondences:
